Abstract

The configuration of the basement in thenorthwest zone of the Buenos Aires province has been studied with gravimetric, magnetic and seismic methods. As resulting from this investigation the location and thicknesses of the sedimentary basins of Rosario, Lincoln and Laboulaye have been determined. The areais covered by Mesozoic and Cenozoic sedimentary rocks, but in addition severalof these basins have Paleozoic rocks and basic rocks equivalent to the Serra Geral Formation. The positive Bouguer anomalies in the area of Carlos Tejedor, are related to a basement high whose physical parameters led us to consider as part of the Cratón del Río de la Plata, due to the similarity with the basement outcropping in Tandil.
