Abstract

The author describes the Aptychi of Argentina. The collections in the principal Museums were examinated, and literature citations reviewed. The major part are from the Neuquén region in western Argentina; a smaller number are from the Mendoza region, The major part are from Titonian (Upper Jurassic) strata; the others range from Middle Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous strata. Following types of Aptychi were found: the majority are Laevaptychus type and the others in decreasing numbers are Lamellaptychus, Cornaptychus and Laevilamellaptichus.
