Characterization of the 29th November Northwest Argentina earthquake

Abstract

A Mw 5.9 earthquake was recorded 34 km eastwards from Humahuaca (Argentina) associated with a ENE-trend normal fault type focal mechanism. Local videos showed several rockfalls produced by the event. The main characteristics of this earthquake and the related mass-wasting processes are discussed.
